Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, says a Special Education Policy has been developed and is ready for Cabinet submission.
The Education Ministry is reporting that there were improvements in the scores in four of the five areas that were tested in the March 2018 sitting of the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) compared with last year. It was the final sitting of the 19-year-old test, which will be replaced by the Primary Exit Profile next year.
The Government is insistent that no child, particularly at the secondary level, should be denied access to education, prompting its decision to remove auxiliary fees for these institutions.
In its bid to boost the cadre of Mathematics and Science teachers, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information (MOEYI) is offering scholarships to 500 suitably qualified persons.
