The Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) has awarded more than $100,000 in cash to 15 Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT), Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) students.
The students, who are children of the Ministry’s employees, performed outstandingly in the recent examinations.
At the presentation ceremony, held today (September 2), at the Ministry’s office on Trafalgar Road in New Kingston, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ms. Hillary Alexander, commended the recipients and urged them to excel at all times.
“Set goals and keep believing in your dreams,” she told the students, adding that they should “dream big and live loud”.
Seven of the students will be entering high schools, six will be going to sixth form, and two will be going to tertiary institutions.
The Ministry initiated the programme in 2012 and has since given awards in 2014 and 2016.
