Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, is calling on high-school leavers to take up the 10,000 spaces available under the Career Advancement Programme (CAP).

Through the programme, offered at over 100 centres islandwide, students are provided with the opportunity for an additional two years of study in order to gain certification in a wide range of skills and competencies.

“It is one way of keeping our youth occupied,” Senator Reid said.

Senator Reid was addressing a Security and Ethics Conference hosted by the Ministries of Education and National Security on June 14, at The Jamaica Pegasus, New Kingston.

Minister Reid said CAP is a “key strategy” to equip young people with valuable skills for the world of work or to pursue higher-level training programmes.

“We want every youth to be fully trained to take them from where they are, to maximise their full potential,” he noted.
