The Government on Wednesday launched a $30-million scholarship grant to be provided through the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service/PetroCaribe Development Fund (PDF).
Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, says the Government has honoured its financial commitments to secondary schools under the non-mandatory fees policy and the institutions have complied with the measure.
The Government has committed $30 million towards a three-year programme to furnish schools with medical equipment, including stretchers, as part of emergency plans at the institutions.
Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, says with the addition of new classrooms in the early-childhood sector by the administration, more children will have access to education without paying fees.
